The ‘year has been kind to me. Since I got back and busy on the drawing board last June, doing mostly practice pieces, studies and fan arts and sharing them all around the social networks, I’ve had a delightful following of about 5,000 and counting - totally out-of-the-blue unexpected. Some of my works have been fave’d, followed and featured on the web, around the world and I am dumbfounded to see so many hits as I Google’d my name haha ;). For that I feel truly blessed and extremely thankful - and so to extend my gratitude to all of you, I am celebrating it with a contest… My 2011 YEAR-END ART EVENT. I am taking a break from my insane schedule to give one of you an art of my styling - within a digitally painted HD canvas (1920 x 1080 pixels) at your requests or my own rendering. ‘Be it your own mug shot, someone special to you, maybe a geek art or fan art to your heart’s desire. “Understanding Comics is quite simply the best analysis of the medium that I have ever encountered. With this book Scott McCloud has taken breathtaking leaps towards establishing a critical language that the comic art form can work with and build upon in the future. Lucid and accessible, it is an astonishing feat of perception. Highly recommended.”— Alan Moore, Watchmen
Understanding Comics is on display in the Hero, Villain, Yeti: Tibet in Comics exhibition at the Rubin Museum of Art, on now through June 2012.
